Tesla's legacy is simultaneously as diaphanous and obscure as the man himself could be.
People's recollections of him varied wildly, often being unable to consistently recall the color of his eyes and hair, his height or whether or not he spoke with a thick accent or none.
An undeniably brilliant thinker, he was part showman, part social crusader and often mythologized.
His concepts were ultimately so in advance of the thinking of his contemporaries that he began stifling any public proclamations for fear of being further ostracized by the scientific community, but the fact of the matter was that his thinking was so far ahead of anyone else's that it would take decades before his more esoteric musings could be comprehended.
More than forty years after his death the ramifications of his work continue to be revealed and debated.
